about usComing soon...facilitiesOn 20 acres in scenic and historic North Guilford, Connecticut, sprawls a quiet little farm. It lies on a hillside, partially secluded from the road by a cluster of forest, overlooking a valley of hayfields. This is Rosewood. The Barn Our barn is laid out in a distinct H-shape, with two raked aisleways connected in the middle by a crosstie area. Each wing has ten 14' x 14' stalls with sliding doors, each well-lit and airy. At the end, furthest from the main entrance, are the foaling stalls, each 20' x 20'. Opposite are the tack and feed rooms. Up a narrow staircase are the hayloft and the living quarters, a small apartment for the resident owner or manager. The Pastures Our pastureland is divided by genuine dark wood five-panel fencing into distinct zones. Closest to the main complex are four half-acre sacrifical paddocks with fine gravel to encourage clean groundwater and healthy pastures in inclement weather. These smaller spaces are also used for rest, isolation, or quarantine. Further away are five one-acre pastures, rich in green grass that's carefully maintained for the best health and safety of our horses. Finally, down the hill are three two-acre pastures for long turnout, mares with foals, and springtime exercise. The Arena Currently we only have a 70' x 70' arena, clearly not large enough to accomodate those of us who compete at higher levels. Thankfully we can trailer to nearby farms to borrow arenas as needed. We're working on improving our competition facilities as our needs and herd grow. Breakdown
